It’s amazing seeing global brands taking stand during such unprecedented times. When iconic brands speak, people tend to listen. And when a powerful brand can use its influence to encourage people to act responsibly – which in this case, includes practising social distancing to help stop the rapid spread of the virus – it should.
Below are a few ads we’ve loved over the past week that are doing just that.
Speaking of logos known throughout the world, you don’t get much more recognisable than Coco-Cola who this week unveiled its newest campaign in Times Square which caught the eyes of many.
Now with the letters spread apart with the tag line saying, “Staying apart is the best way to stay connected,” the message is very clear and simple yet powerful.
Nike is also promoting social distancing. The brand known for sponsoring athletes who play for millions around the world is inviting you to join them. It is powerful marketing like this, which demonstrates the selflessness of a brand, that will be remembered many years after this passes.
Fresh from its recent mouldy burger campaign, the fast food chain is reimaging its store signs from “home of the Whopper” to a simpler message: “Stay home”.
What do you think about these ads? And have you seen any other brands that have used their influence to help convince people to stay home?

Every year the North East Business Awards celebrates and recognises businesses’ achievements, successes and innovations in the region, and Scarab4 is not only sponsoring the acclaimed Innovation Award for Northumberland and Tyneside, we have also been pleased to support the event organiser, Reach PLC, with additional judging. This has included judging the Digital Technology award in Northumberland and Tyneside and we are currently well underway with judging the Small Business Award in the Teesside region.
The awards ceremony for the Northumberland and Tyneside heat is being held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, on the 27th February, and we are thoroughly looking forward to presenting the award to the company that we believe is at the forefront of originality and innovation.
Prior to this ceremony, Scarab4 has visited those shortlisted for the awards, to meet the businesses and to get a better understanding of what they do, their products or services, and why they have been nominated for their respective awards. When judging, we considered all aspects of the business relating to the award they have been shortlisted to narrow this down to a winner.
The companies shortlisted for the Innovation Award are OpenWorks Engineering, Transmission Dynamics and Northern Gas and Power. We were extremely impressed by each one, of all of which demonstrated revolutionary products and services. Judging for this award has been a difficult decision to make and we would like to take this opportunity to wish the three companies nominated the best of luck for the ceremony.
The North East Business Awards has a strong reputation throughout the country supporting businesses in the region and we are honoured to be supporting and taking part in such an integral event. To find out more about the event, visit North East Business Awards website.

We are excited to announce that we have moved premises and expanded our team as a result of major account wins which has seen Scarab4 take on a number of new clients both across the UK and Globe.
Now adjacent to Newcastle Airport, the new contracts have not only prompted us to move to our current location but also to expand the team with two new recruits and a diversification of the business into new markets.
Speaking about the agency’s success and our expansion, founder and MD of Scarab4 Jane Gatiss said: “We originally started very much on the back of our experience delivering marketing and PR services to the energy sector and its manufacturing and engineering supply chain. In that time, we’ve carved a reputation as the go to agency in this sector and have a dedicated team committed to working only in this market space.
“We are now experiencing a desire from other companies – outside our traditional sector – to work with the team at Scarab4 and this has seen us quickly move into other sectors including direct to consumer. Whilst we will always retain a specialist energy division – focused on the heart of what the agency was formed on – we will use the springboard of our successful work in this sector to now deliver the same level of exceptional customer service to the new markets that have gravitated towards us.”
Based on Prestwick Park, our expansion has included the appointment of two new team members including an account manager and web developer with the hope to recruit again in the coming months.
With recent new contract wins including the £250million build of a waste to energy plant in Tees Valley, a rebrand and website project for a global education charity based in Florida and the launch of a new lifestyle brand for an Australian client, we have a strong foothold and reputation in the North East region and have our sights firmly set on developing exactly the same across both the UK and across the globe.
We are pleased to announce that we have secured a contract to provide marketing services to Blyth based A Squared Engineering.
We have been commissioned to manage all digital marketing activity on behalf of the Engineering Consultancy which involves promoting the company, its projects and its services to prospects and clients across the UK.
Speaking about the contract win, founder and MD of Scarab4, Jane Gatiss said: “We are thrilled with this second contract win in only a matter of weeks. We are delighted to have landed A Squared Engineering as a client and look forward to delivering our services for a company that really is making a difference in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture and risk management services across the oil, gas and offshore wind sectors.
“Quite a new company, A Squared Engineering is already fast gaining a reputation across the oil, gas and offshore wind sectors for providing some of the very best engineering consultancy services in the industry and we are very proud to be part of the team to promote this.
“This is another contract win which demonstrates our unrivalled marketing expertise in the energy sector and which demonstrate our ability to deliver across this sector. We’re very proud of the reputation we’ve carved in this industry, across the region and indeed throughout the UK and look forward to delivering the quality work for A Squared Engineering that we deliver for all our clients.”
Director at A Squared Engineering, Andy Robson said: “We were very impressed by Scarab4, their knowledge of the industries we work in, their connections across the region and the UK and – most importantly – their ability to hit the ground running.
“When an agency gives you that level of confidence and you know it’s just going to deliver without draining on your resources, then it’s a no brainer. We knew Scarab4 could gather the information needed to craft interesting and accurate digital content and would work effectively with our partners and suppliers to do this. Able to work autonomously and as part of our team we’re very much looking forward to working with Scarab4 and building the reputation and brand of A Squared Engineering.”
