What’s in a Name?

What’s in a Name?

One of the most daunting tasks for a new business is choosing the company name. Similar to that of picking a child’s name, get the name wrong and they will be stuck and possibly tortured by it for a lifetime!

A brand name should never be underestimated. It can make or break it a company.

A good way to begin choosing a new company name or a rebranded name is to begin by looking at your competitors. Gather a list and analysis your marketplace, what works and what doesn’t. Begin to work out what it is you want your company to do and what it is you are looking to achieve.

Avoid brand names that are:

–          Hard to spell

–          Easily mispronounced

–          Annoying

–          Restricted

–          Similar to other brand names

–          Not web friendly.

Granted, it’s not an easy task, but spend time and money investing in the brand name to reap rewards in the long run.
