UK government to add electric cars to their fleets

The UK government hopes to lead by example when it comes to going green, as they prepare to add up to 170 electric cars to their government car fleets this coming autumn.

Part of the £5 million scheme will also incorporate the wider public sector as well, including the NHS, Police and council workers.

The hope is that this initiative will kick-start the sales of electric cars, which did not quite take off as well as hoped, even despite the government’s £5000 grant to incentivise consumers.

Maybe seeing David Cameron being ferried to and from PM’s questions every Wednesday in the latest electric vehicle will inspire the nation to go green!
