Britains Largest Community Windfarm has Successfully Obtained £11m Funding

Santander has invested £11m in funding towards the Beinn Ghriideag Community Wind Farm based on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland.

It has been predicted that the wind farm will generate an income of £48m over a 25 year period from an original £15m investment. The farm is set to be completed by September 2015 and is hoped to bring significant economic and social rewards to the Scottish community whilst embracing their outstanding renewable resources.

The profit is set to be reinvested into 8 key community projects ranging from, renovating local villages, increasing employment, insulating 350 homes through to funding for the local hospice.

It is anticipated that the wind farm could potentially generate up to a whopping £1.9 million a year for the local community.
